Page Personnel Singapore 2016 EA of the Year Award

Page Personnel Singapore is looking for the country’s best executive assistants, personal assistants and secretaries – one of whom will be named the 2016 Executive Assistant of the Year.

Now in its fourth year, the prestigious award recognises the talented administrative professionals who work hard behind the scenes to drive success in their organisation.

This year we are pampering our winner with a prize package worth $8,000 which includes return flights for two on Scoot’s premium ScootBiz to Tokyo, four nights accommodation, prizes from Spa Esprit, Kiehl’s, Browhaus, The Singapore Women’s Weekly and The Singapore Association of Administrative Professionals.

Previous winners include Angeline Lum of Medtronic, Stephanie Leong of JAS Worldwide Asia and Audrey Ung of VMware.

What does it take to win?

When it comes to what makes a good EA, Richa Sharma, Manager of Page Personnel Secretarial and Office Support team outlines the following factors:

  • The best EAs don’t have an ego. The truly awesome ones take time to recognise how far they have come: they help newcomers, show respect and are willing to help.

  • Flexibility and team players. Being an EA is not necessarily a desk job. As your boss’ support person, you might need to fly to Jakarta for a meeting, attend a conference or organise a conference. A good EA will never say that something is ‘not in my job scope’.

  • Communication is really important. An EA needs to work with junior staff members, but also needs to be able to diversify to speak with their boss’ counterparts. It’s really important to be able to mirror the communication styles of everyone you work with.

  • Strong interpersonal skills. A good EA is someone who knows what you need without asking for it. They will think, “my boss has just come in from a red eye flight and he has only had three hours sleep. I’m going to block all calls until he feels better,” or “my boss is having a bad day. I’m going to go downstairs and get her favourite coffee.”

  • A really top-level EA knows the business inside out and is able to answer emails on their boss’ behalf, knowing the deadlines and details of all major projects. A really great EA is interested in learning all aspects of the business.
