The Executive Assistant of the Year 2016 competition, launched today, aims to celebrate the achievements of these unsung heroes in the corporate world

Singapore, 27 April 2016 – In its annual survey with over 500 executive assistants (EAs), personal assistants (PAs) and secretaries in Singapore, Page Personnel found that a majority (84%) saw an increase in their workload in the past year and 72% feel insufficiently rewarded, partly due to additional day-to-day responsibilities. More than half (51%) of these administrative professionals also feel undervalued at work. The lack of autonomy in decision-making reported by 62% of the respondents could be a factor behind this sentiment.

It takes a lot of know‑how, finesse, and plain hard work to coordinate administrative matters in the corporate world, and as we celebrate Administrative Professionals’ Day today, it is also a timely reminder to give recognition to the administrative staff in your office.

Launched today, the Executive Assistant of the Year 2016 competition organised by Page Personnel Singapore aims to highlight the indispensable role of an EA or PA in the executive office, which is often overlooked and unacknowledged. The award, in its fourth year, seeks to distinguish an outstanding individual among peers in Singapore and recognise the pivotal part that administrative professionals play in executives’ success. The award is now open for nomination and submission until 1 June 2016. Winners will be announced on 30 June 2016.

“From our survey findings, it seems that the acknowledgement of EAs, PAs and secretaries remains low, with most of them feeling underappreciated in their organisations,” says Kirsty Luce, Director, Page Personnel Singapore. “Our EA of the Year award aims to recognise the heroes behind the scenes, to celebrate their achievements and to enhance recognition for EAs, PAs and secretaries across Singapore.”

The award winner will receive a prize package worth $8,000, including a trip for two to Tokyo on Scoot’s premium ScootBiz with four nights of luxury accommodation. The runner-up will receive a one-night stay at the Amara Singapore. Both the winner and runner-up will also receive prizes from Kiehl’s, Spa Esprit, Browhaus, The Singapore Women’s Weekly and The Singapore Association of Administrative Professionals.
