Before PageGroup, where were you before and what were your specialisations?

I worked with several MAS-licensed brokers which provide savings/investments/retirement planning for the expatriate market in Singapore. My specialisations were mainly within Business Development and Client Servicing; acquiring high net-worth clients and retaining them.

Why did you join PageGroup and what is your current role?

I joined recruitment because I needed a new challenge and I wanted to utilise my psychology degree in a corporate environment. I joined PageGroup because I enjoyed meeting various members of senior management during my interviews. I felt like we had common ground and that I would be working in a room with talented people. The traits of leaders are reflective of how a business is run.

How have your past experiences helped you in your current role?

I am very fortunate to have had great mentors who trained me to become assertive and confident in my dealings with people. Studying for a psychology degree also taught me about individual differences, group dynamics and other common human behaviours.

What are the most rewarding parts of your job?

I take pride in customer service. Being in a sales job can sometimes cause people to become transactional. I believe in creating the best experience for every candidate/client I interact with. I also do this job because I know I can have a positive impact on someone’s career. Receiving a good review or hearing that I have changed someone’s life is very fulfilling.

What are some successes or achievements that you have accomplished during your time at PageGroup?

Getting promoted to Senior Consultant within a year of being fully operational was a milestone. Having exclusive relationships with clients and candidates and knowing that I am their “go-to” person in the market is valuable.
