They say you only get one chance to make a first impression, and for this reason and many others the Receptionist in any major corporation has a crucial role to play. The public face of the company needs to be friendly, approachable, efficient, professional and able to remain unflustered even when the pressure is on. It’s a unique position, so if you have the required qualities you could be in great demand.
Here in Singapore, almost all of the business world’s big hitters have offices, and as a result of this Receptionists are kept busy throughout any given working week. This is a role that offers plenty of variety, whether you’re greeting potential clients, fielding important telephone calls, communicating with colleagues, sorting the daily post, overseeing access to the building or maintaining appointment calendars.
As a general rule, you don’t need major qualifications for the role, although you will need to be au fait with company computer systems and communications networks. The force of your personality will be more important to potential employers, as they will be looking for self-motivated individuals who remain friendly and approachable from the start of a shift through to the very end.
Do you have the experience to succeed?
If you have previous experience as a Receptionist on your CV it can help with your application, as can experience of similar roles such as:
…and more. The general skills required of a Receptionist will transfer relatively easily from one sector to another. Therefore, if you’ve worked in this role in construction, for example, you could still find suitable positions in banking, insurance, logistics, healthcare, local authorities, leisure, aviation and others.
It’s also worth pointing out the many excellent reasons to consider relocating to Singapore. The quality of life here is very high, thanks in part to low crime rates, superb entertainment options, friendly people, fabulous food and an excellent climate. Thousands of men and women have relocated here from all over the world, giving the place a unique feel that permeates into everything.
The best Receptionist jobs in Singapore tend to be filled rather quickly, so if you want to stay one step ahead of competitors be sure to set up an email job alert with Page Personnel. And don’t forget to forward your CV on to our team in the coming days. We look forward to hearing from you.
